For more than 50 years, the Wehr family has been accommodating guests who come to enjoy the bountiful offering of outdoor family recreation and leisure attractions in the surrounding area. The campground was originated by Robert Wehr, a career engineer born in 1929, who developed a passion for bringing families together through the outdoor lifestyle. In 1975, Bob and his wife June purchased a nearly 60-acre rolling agricultural land tract along Moraine State Park’s southwestern border that featured immediate access to the 16,000-acre state park and 3,200-acre Lake Arthur. Considering the strategic location and its rolling beauty and topographical challenges, Bob designed the park with a variety of unique camp areas for RVs, tents and cabins.
The park was created utilizing volunteers and recruits from his family, including his parents, wife June and sons Keith, Todd and Craig. The original design translated from blueprints to a 300-site full-service campground to be enjoyed by guests for generations.
